About the book: 1964 / The collection includes stories about the modern life of the army and navy. Their authors are young army and navy writers and those writers whose work is related to military-patriotic themes. Many of the stories were sent to the competition of the magazine “Soviet Warrior” and published on its pages. Friendship, camaraderie, the great principles of communist morality, honesty and truthfulness, a deep understanding of one’s military duty, vigilance and combat readiness are the main themes of published works. The main character of the stories is a man in an overcoat, a soldier of the army and navy, selflessly devoted to the Motherland, the party, the people, a worthy successor to the works of his fathers and older brothers. We meet it in the desert and in the distant Kuril Islands, in the Caucasus and Carpathian mountains, in the north and south, in a variety of conditions. He is distinguished by high political consciousness and humanism, great culture and education, perfect knowledge of military equipment and weapons. There are many difficulties on the soldier’s path, the road to the heights of military excellence is not easy, but he, tireless and inquisitive, confidently moves towards his goal.
