About the book: 2009 / Soviet propaganda was silent about this. Veterans don’t like to remember this. The true history of the partisan movement has little in common with the ceremonial myths - the real partisan war was monstrously cruel, bloody and terrible: betrayal and fratricide, extrajudicial executions and torture of prisoners, colossal losses, mass epidemics and famine that drove people to cannibalism... It was especially difficult there, where there were no large forests and no established connections with the “mainland”, and the local population collaborated en masse with the Nazis. It was in these conditions that the Crimean partisans fought, who were not for nothing called “God’s martyrs” and to whom this book is dedicated, based not on propaganda cliches, but on archival documents published for the first time.
