Two important differences: firstly, we are talking about events that happened long before the birth of Vlad Taltosh (Hadron had just had a daughter, who was named Alira, and the Interregnum era will begin in 500 years), and secondly, this book, or rather this cycle is written in a completely different manner. According to Brust himself, he loves A. Dumas very much, so he undertook an “experiment” in writing a book that either parodied Dumas or was stylized after him.
